TRAINING METHODOLOGY

At Ludicrous K9s, the goal is to use science based training methods in conjunction with psychology as it applies to dogs, ie canine behaviour. Dogs are individuals, the same as people. Think back to middle and high school, and you may have heard this in college as well- visual learners. Auditory learners. Kinesthetic learners, who have to do something before it sticks. While not labeled the same way, dogs have similar variances in learning styles. For training to be effective, cookie cutter methods won't do- training has to be tailored to the individual. Some dogs [like my own Rood] need more firm handling and very heavily defined rules. Other dogs [like my Baran] roll over and cry if you look at them cross-eyed and are a bit more happy-go-lucky and compliant, and are less stressed with defined rules [and I mean they can handle and prefer more ambiguity, ALL dogs need structure and consistency to be healthy and happy]. Each session will always be tailored to the individual dog, I will never have a one-size-fits all approach to dog training- I truly believe that it isn't possible to do so and still provide results anywhere near 100% of the time.
